Mk5 Golf 1.9 TDI, BKC. Mk5 golf 1.9tdi boost problem Ok so just bought a new IMF (throttle body) and an EGR valve, hopefully that will fire up my turbo I
I have a mk5 golf, 1.9tdi. I have had a remap/new SMF and clutch after. About 5,000 miles after the above additions i have gone in to limp mode 3/4 times. (its not everyday, weeks apart) Each time has been while booting it past a car. NO CEL/EML has come on dash. Resets soon as i cycle the ignition.
I should mention that although it may be the egr valve that needs cleaning. (quite likely) it may also be faulty swirl valves amongst other things. Given that my zafira 1.9 cdti only started getting problems with leaking swirl valves around the 90, 000 miles mark i think your egr valve would the best place to start.
I played around with the car this evening and unplugged the electrical connection to the EGR valve. I noticed right away a change in exhaust sound and a distinctive hiss, a lot like a vacuum leak. I took it out for a drive with the EGR unplugged and the turbo seemed to spool up faster but surged a bit. I reconnected it and cleared 2 DTCs out.
